The Way We Care
Our unique approach to ensuring that older people have all that they need to flourish in their later years
Pilgrims’ Friend Society is a leading provider of Christian communities for older people through residential care homes and independent living housing schemes.
With 14 communities in England and Scotland, we offer homely and caring places which encourage older people to live fulfilled lives in their later years. We believe that faith is an important part of life and are committed to supporting older people as they grow spiritually, offering regular opportunities for individual and collective acts of faith and worship.
Grounded in the Christian faith, we have developed our own unique approach to care, The Way We Care. This includes our approach to dementia care.

Living in our homes means being part of a warm and friendly community
When you choose to live in one of our housing schemes, you’ll be joining a vibrant Christian community with the peace and independence that comes with your own space
Pilgrims’ Friend Society helps Christians to better understand the issues that matter to older people, including supporting people living with dementia through training and resources. Louise Morse works for us as a speaker, trainer and author - find out about the resources she has developed and opportunities to hear her speak on our Louise Morse hub. During our annual Prayer Week, we focus on issues affecting older people.
Our resources cover issues of older age, including books and tools to support older people and those ministering to them.
Louise Morse is a trained Cognitive Behaviour Therapist with expertise on issues facing older people, including dementia
We believe no older person needs to grow older lonely and without the good news of Jesus. Pilgrims’ Friend Society equips the local church to support older people in their communities through resources, seminars and training and our partnership with the charity Faith in Later Life. We encourage volunteers from local churches to partner with our homes, offering spiritual support to those who live with us. Our volunteers are supported by our Activities and Community Engagement (ACE) Facilitators) who actively seek to build links with local churches as part of our ACE Programme.
Volunteers play a vital role in supporting the life of our homes. Come and be a friendly face and brighten someone's day
Our Activities and Community Engagement (ACE) Programme is a big part of how we ensure everyone who lives with us can live later life to the full
Our sister charity Faith in Later Life exists to inspire and equip Christians to reach, serve and empower older people in every community, through the local church
