Residential and respite care
For those sympathetic to the Christian faith
About Bridgemead in Bath, Somerset
Bridgemead is a 32-bed residential care home by the river in central Bath, caring for vulnerable older people who require personal care or nursing. We are a home-from-home where 'family members', as we call those who live with us, are cherished and enabled to live fruitful lives in a loving Christian community.
Our home is ‘dual-registered’ and provides round-the-clock nursing care as required. There is a registered nurse on duty at all times as well as the registered manager.
Rooms are situated over four floors, with eight rooms on each floor. Three floors have en-suite rooms. Each floor has a communal dining/living room with kitchenette. There is a shared WiFi connection for residents. Rooms do not have a television or telephone.
Those who live with us are diligently looked after by fully qualified care professionals, working under senior care staff. Our emphasis is on ‘relational’ care which involves the person, their family and a dedicated key worker who determines the ideal level of care. We ensure everyone who lives with us makes as many choices and has as much control of their day-to-day life as they can. Relatives are encouraged to be part of the decision-making.
Each day, we have a quiet time at 11.45am and on Sunday there is a service at 3.30pm led by various volunteers. There are different activities every afternoon, for example, quizzes, crafts and singing. We welcome suggestions from those who live with us and their families for new activities and entertainment.
We are proud of our reputation and track record in end-of-life care, along with the support we give to families. We strongly believe that personal dignity should be afforded to everyone throughout their life and we take great care to ensure this continues to the very end.
In addition to our care home, we provide a day care service on a Wednesday from 10am to 4pm.
Bridgemead also offers an exquisite variety of outdoor spaces. This includes the roof garden, which is alive with well-tended plants and foliage. Its seating area creates a beautiful sun-trap in the summer months. On the ground level, the conservatory opens onto a patio with ample sunny or shady seating. Beyond this is a landscaped garden area with more seating. From here a pathway wends its way to the river, by-passing an interesting water garden before opening up to the river view.
