About Homesdale Care Home in Wanstead, Northeast London
Homesdale joined the Pilgrims' Friend Society family in January 2024.
Homesdale is a Christian community for older people in Wanstead, Northeast London. Comprised of an 18-bed care home and 70 self-contained flats, Homesdale offers a safe and secure environment both for those who are living independently and for those who need care.
Homesdale Care Home has 18 rooms spread over three floors providing care both permanent and respite care for older people. All rooms are single ensuite. One room has an adjoining second room which can be used as a private sitting room and which is suitable for a couple. All rooms are fully furnished, and residents can also bring their own belongings, including small furniture, to personalise the room. Homesdale can provide a TV if requested and rooms have their own telephone socket which can also be used for an internet connection. Special diets are catered for. There is a daily Christian service every weekday.
There are facilities available for visitors to make their own drinks, and guest rooms are available in the adjacent Sheltered Housing which can be used for overnight stays.
Homesdale was rated Good by CQC at its last inspection on 24th January 2020.

Homesdale Care Home is overseen by the Care Manager who runs a team of 16 staff. Staff are qualified to NVQ2/3 or are working towards this qualification. During the day there is one Senior Carer and minimum of two carers; overnight there are two waking staff. Homesdale also has a call system and residents have a pendant to wear. There is an Activities Co-ordinator on site four days per week who provides a variety of activities including baking, arts and crafts, and quizzes. Other external activities include exercise and entertainment.
Local area
Homesdale is situated in the heart of Wanstead, in the London Borough of Redbridge. The local area has a village feel with its green and High Street with independent shops and cafes. Close by are Wanstead Park and Epping Forest.
Homesdale is less than 10 minutes walk from Tesco Express, and less than 15 minutes to Co-Op and M&S Food. The High Street accommodates most day-to-day needs including chemists, Post Office, GP surgeries and dentists. Whipps Cross Hospital is eight minutes away by car.

Sarah Walsh
General Manager
Sarah came to Homesdale over 20 years ago after working as a buyer for High Street retailers.
When searching for an alternative job to enable her to spend more time with her young family, she was led to the part time Housing Officer position at Homesdale. After gaining experience across care and housing she then moved through to become General Manager in 2018.
Sarah feels blessed to lead a team dedicated to providing excellence in care, support and housing and building a community rooted in faith at Homesdale.
She lives in Loughton, is married, and has two grown-up children. In her spare time she is involved in the Scout group at church, and acts as Treasurer.
