About Milward House Housing
Milward House housing scheme is made up of 16 studio flats and one double bedroom flat.
Each flat has own toilet and sink and kitchenette with a combined sleeping and living space. Residents share the communal laundry, two bathrooms and two shower rooms and have access to another communal flat.
The flats also have access to a private garden and summer house which can be enjoyed by all, particularly when the weather is good.
The flats are co-located with Milward House care home which provides residential care for older people.
Out and about in the local area
Milward House sits just above the Pantiles, an Edwardian shopping area with independent shops and cafes, as well as regular street markets. It is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the local park (Grove Park) and a 15-minute walk to a Sainsbury’s Local, local buses and Tunbridge Wells train station which is both on the mainline into London and less than an hour away from the south coast.
There are several local churches of different denominations which are linked to Milward House, and there are various doctors and dentists nearby. The nearest hospital is 20 minutes away by car.
A little extra support
The Milward House team provide daily checks for those living in the flats and provide basic maintenance support and a weekly clean of the communal areas. The staff are also available to signpost residents to local services and activities, and are always happy to lend a friendly ear!
Those living in the flats are welcome to join morning devotions in the care home during the week, and for a regular Sunday afternoon service. They are also welcome to volunteer in the care home, whether by using a skill or talent to support an activity or group, or by befriending a particular resident.
Those who find they need more care support can arrange this from external agencies.

Sid Martin
Business Manager
Sid joined the team at Milward House in January 2023. He has attended his church since coming to faith nearly 30 years ago. After working for a decade as a chef, he served as a church administrator for more than 15 years, and he is glad to be putting these skills and experience to use at Milward House.
He lives in Sussex with his wife and two of their five grown-up children, one of whom is profoundly autistic. He is a lapsed cyclist who in 2014 cycled from London to Amsterdam to raise funds for the National Autistic Society – he hopes to get back in the saddle soon. He also loves visiting Scotland at least once a year.
