Bethany an End-of-Life Care Champion
For the 3rd year running, Bethany Christian Home has been successfully re-verified as 'End-of-Life Champions', which means residents (“family members”) who become terminally ill can be cared for at the Home and not have to be moved to the local hospice.
"The Six Steps + Programme" is a series of workshops developed by the local hospice, St Luke’s, a leading provider of end-of-life care and consistently rated 'Outstanding' by CQC. The programme was designed by their education team to provide care homes and agencies with a toolkit to provide quality end-of-life care that meets CQC end-of-life essential standards. The course also provides staff with an ongoing commitment as an End-of-Life Care Champion, enabling them to share knowledge and skills to peers and colleagues.
Bethany took part in this programme initially in 2017 and was accredited with the status of 'End of Life Care Champion'. Each year they are re-assessed and if they continue to meet the standards will be re-verified by the hospice. Organisations who have two End of Life Champions within their setting, and who meet the organisational criteria, receive a variety of support and recognition, including a plaque and certificate from St Luke’s showing they meet and maintain the standards. Plymouth-based organisations also have their verification added to the Plymouth Online Directory by Plymouth City Council.
Bethany Christian Home is a wonderful, comfortable and comforting place, and a home where Christian care is modelled, and you are treated as family.
