Happy 30th birthday to Finborough Court!
At the end of June, Finborough Court in Great Finborough held a special week of celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of the home
Finborough Court care home first opened its doors on 18th June 1994. To mark the 30th anniversary, the home had a special week of activities and events to give thanks for all that God has achieved through the home over the years. A focus for the celebrations was 'a light in the darkness around us', inspired by the following verse:
'You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light' - Psalm 18:28
The week began with a lamp lighting service with a lamp remaining lit in the foyer throughout the week. Each family member also had a jam jar light outside their room, lit up at night and illuminating the focus Bible verse.
As part of the week, many of the original staff came to visit as well as special guest Terence Carter, Mayor of Stowmarket. Registered Care Manager Rachel Fishburne, who has herself worked at the home for 29 years, paid tribute to all who have contributed to the home over the years.
Rachel said, "We thank God for the amazing team that we currently work with, the many staff that have worked with us through those years - some still regular visitors and some no longer with us - and we celebrate the lives of our family members who have lived with us... God has remained faithful throughout all of the changing processes, regulations and government of our home. Our vision remains steadfast in that we see fulfilled living on a daily basis."
The home was blessed with an amazing week of musical entertainment with visits from string trio Trills and Frills, who gave a lovely soundtrack to the afternoon tea party, and the Jubilee Ladies Choir based in Stowmarket who gave a rousing performance to the headline birthday celebrations on Saturday evening, with songs from film and musicals, plus traditional favourites and choral classics. Rachel, Heather and members of the Stowmarket Concert Band created an impromptu scratch band to provide music for the big birthday party. Musician Dave Bilbrough, son of Rob who lives at the home, also dropped by for an intimate time of worship.
The home also hosted an art exhibition of work by our family members, set up by local artist Kevina Badoye, and there was a homemade craft sale.
A big thank you goes to everyone at the home who worked hard behind the scenes to make these special celebrations possible!
Prayer points:
- Give thanks for God's care and support during this celebration week
- Pray that Finborough Court would continue to be a light in the community
- Pray for all the staff and thank God for their dedication to the Finborough Court family
