Singing brightens our homes during lockdown
There are so many wonderful reasons why singing is great – it helps relieve stress, creates communities, brings joy and entertainment, and above all deepens our relationship with our Father
During the coronavirus, singing has been of great comfort to many. In recent days, The UK Blessing video has been shared widely online, featuring over 65 churches and Christian groups uniting to sing a virtual blessing over the UK. Technology and social media have both played a key role for Christians across the world during these challenging times, providing a platform for us to share our faith and stay connected.
In our homes, our residents and staff too are experiencing the joy of song, bringing feelings of warmth and togetherness. For those unable to leave their rooms, being able to sing with staff one-to-one can be especially helpful in lifting the spirits, promoting spiritual well-being and good mental health.
Sharing some of these precious moments online through our Facebook pages has also been a brilliant way for our homes to help residents and relatives to stay in touch whilst the country is in lockdown.
This lovely video of residents singing ‘All things bright and beautiful’ was created by staff at Emmaus House, Harrogate and posted on the home's Facebook page. According to Manager Lesley Strafford, this hymn is a favourite and is requested almost every day!
