Ways to pray during the Coronavirus outbreak
Please do join with us in prayer, particularly for older people, as COVID-19 continues to spread in the UK.
We know that God is sovereign over all things, but we are asking supporters and friends of Pilgrims' Friend Society to pray for our communities at this time.
Please do pray for all those in our care homes and housing schemes, but particularly those who are more frail in our care homes and who might be more susceptible to the virus. Pray that God would protect all our homes and housing schemes and that no one would be impacted by the virus.
Pray that those who are living independently but are facing a time of uncertainty or isolation would know God walking with them through the deep waters, and would be comforted and reassured by His presence. Pray that the homes of those who in our housing schemes would be full of God's all-surpassing peace.
All our homes and housing schemes are fully prepared for outbreaks of this kind and all have been taking extra measures to make sure that those in the communities are kept safe. Please do pray for our staff as they work hard to keep the homes and housing schemes free of the virus.
Pray that our staff would stay free of the virus, both for their own health and for the health of those they are caring for. Pray that their work in the homes and housing schemes wouldn't be badly impacted if some staff are not able to work. Where our staff do find themselves unwell or living with those who are unwell, pray that they would have wisdom and peace to make the right decisions about work.
Please do pray for our home and housing scheme managers. Pray that they would remain confident in the sovereignty and goodness of God, and trust in Him as they deal with this new set of challenges. Pray that they would have wisdom in their decision-making and grace as they lead their teams.
Please pray that our managers and care teams would all know God's strength as the outbreak pressures on work and health continue. Pray that they would have all the resilience and stamina that they need to serve in this way.
Please pray for the relatives of residents and staff, espcially as visiting hours have been reduced. Pray that they would be at peace during this uncertainty and that they would be confident in the precautions that have been taken to ensure the health and safety of their loved ones. Where they are not able to visit, pray that they would know God's comfort.
Please do also keep in your prayers the Pilgrims' Friend Society Executive Team and Trustees as they work through the needs of the whole organisation during this challenging time. Pray that they make wise decisions and remain rooted in God's goodness and love.
Please continue to pray for the medical services as they do their best to identify and contain the virus. Pray for all those working in the health service and in our communities, that they would be sustained during such a busy time. Pray also for our Government and those they are working closely with to better understand the virus and it's impact. Pray for wisdom and hearts of compassion and mercy to be woven through our government networks.
Our residents, many of whom lived through World War II, have reminded us of the all surpassing worth of knowing Jesus. Please pray with them and with us for people who don’t know Jesus as their Lord and Saviour.
“We are confident in the sovereignty and goodness of our Heavenly Father. And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”
