Works of art encourage Milward House
Ken has been using his creative talent to bring hope and encouragement to Milward House
After years of working as a structural engineer, the 94-year-old artist has developed a keen eye for detail. Ken, who lives at Milward Housein Tunbridge Wells, uses either felt tip pens or watercolours to produce visual interpretations of Bible passages. His encouraging posters have helped keep spirits up around the care home during the pandemic.
The thought-provoking designs can be found throughout the corridors and communal spaces at Milward. Ken hopes the illustrations instigate thoughts on a deeper level. He says, “The viewer only needs a seed of an idea for their faith to grow.” Ken hopes the reminders shown in his artworks do just that and help fellow residents, staff and families find peace in their busy days.
Milward House manager Annabelle commented on how Ken’s project has impacted her, “Ken’s pictures are a great encouragement. During this difficult time with so many changes, Ken’s pictures have brightened my day and reminded me that we have a loving God who has purpose and protection throughout everything. Ken and fellow members of the Milward community may not know this, but their faith helps strengthen me in my role as Manager.”
