Taking church into care homes
Join Louise Morse at a seminar exploring ways of taking church into care homes.
Patricia is part of a group that regularly takes services in care homes. She said, "Some of the care homes into which we go have residents who are not believers. Some, even in dementia, are violently opposed to the services we conduct. I would love to know if there is a way to speak to these people, especially as, while some leave the room, some insist upon staying, really to distract those who want to worship. I am sure I am not the only person to have experienced this, and if there is anything that could cover this in a meeting, I would be very grateful to attend."
So our next ZOOM meeting includes two very experienced experts. Retired pastor Revd Roger Hitchings was at one time director of the largest Alzheimer’s Day Centre in the country, and has years of experience in taking services in care homes.
Janet Jacob’s entire career has been dedicated to older people, first as a psychogeriatric nurse and then as a care home manager with Pilgrims' Friend Society.
